Woman who’s visited more than 60 countries reveals the one place she would never visit again

Experienced traveler Geraldine Joaquim was left on ‘high alert’ after more than one problem arose

A woman has shared her experience of one of her ‘worst travel incidents’ and explained why she vows never to return to that city.

Travel might have slowed during the pandemic, but many are eager to explore again, including a man who has journeyed to an impressive 190 countries.

If you’re seeking travel inspiration, there’s one destination a woman has sworn off after the ‘stress’ it brought her while visiting.

Geraldine Joaquim has traveled to over 60 countries and typically takes four vacations each year.

At 54, she believes it’s vital to witness both the positive and negative aspects of places rather than only ‘expecting a polished version.’ However, a single night in a specific city led this hypnotherapist and wellness coach to rule it out for future visits.

She shared that during a work trip to Isla Margarita, located in the Caribbean and part of Venezuela, she flew from Montevideo, Uruguay, to Caracas, the Venezuelan capital.

Her flight landed ‘late at night,’ prompting her to arrange a car to transport her to a central hotel for a brief overnight stay before continuing her journey.

Joaquim recalled, “It seemed fine until I started waiting for my transfer and waited and waited. I was there for hours, and as the small airport cleared out, I realized I was completely alone.”

She explained that her phone ‘wasn’t functional’ and there was ‘no one else around,’ so when ‘a man approached and said in broken English that he was there to take [her] to the hotel,’ she felt ‘relieved.’
