Reason why some people are more likely to remember dreams than others

There are certain traits associated with remembering dreams (Getty Stock Photo)

  1. A positive outlook on dreams
  2. A tendency to let their thoughts roam
  3. Longer periods spent in light sleep
  4. A preference for warmer climates
  5. A younger age

Regarding the last two traits, the researchers noted that individuals often report decreased dream recall during winter months.

As for age, findings indicated that older adults are more likely to feel they have dreamt but often lack concrete memories to support this, referred to as “white dreams.”

Bernardi, the study’s lead author, remarked: “These findings not only enhance our understanding of dream mechanics but also offer insights into the role of dreaming in mental health and human consciousness studies.”

Concluding their research, the scientists noted that previous claims of females recalling more dreams than males were not substantiated in their analysis.

I am 23 yr old female and have been having the same/similar dreams in the same “dimension” for the past two years. They don’t occur every night but they are quite frequent and I am aware when I am there. I can also remember a few dreams from years ago/childhood vividly. I would love to dive deeper into this topic as I find it extremely interesting, if you have any advice or suggestions please let me know kindly!
