“I didn’t see Adrian for three seconds and I got so scared. When I turned around, he was just gone. That was the scariest part, not seeing him for those few seconds.” But then, just as suddenly as Adrian had vanished, he came shooting back out of the whale’s mouth, along with his kayak.
The video footage shows the dramatic moment – one second, Adrian is peacefully paddling along, and the next, the huge whale pops up and swallows him whole.
You can hear Dell shouting to his son to “calm down” and “grab the boat” as he rushes to pull Adrian to safety with a rope.
Despite the terrifying ordeal, neither Adrian nor his father were injured. They’re just grateful the whale ended up spitting the kayaker back out, unlike the grim fate that would likely befall someone swallowed by a sperm whale,
which experts say would almost certainly result in a gruesome death.
