Adrian Simancas was out on the water with his dad when disaster struck
A kayaker had a wild encounter with a whale while out on the water in Chile. According to reports, the man was kayaking in Bahía El Águila, south of Punta Arenas, when a humpback whale accidentally swallowed him and his kayak whole.
Luckily, the man, named Adrian Simancas, survived the ordeal. Even more amazingly, Adrian’s father was there and managed to record the whole incident on camera, despite the understandable shock and horror of watching his son disappear into the whale’s mouth.

Recounting the terrifying moment, Adrian said it happened so fast – one second he saw something blue and white pass by his face, and the next he felt like he was drowning as the whale swallowed him. “I thought it had eaten me,” he recalled.
Adrian’s dad, Dell, was right there watching it all unfold.
