Former NASA staffer reveals shocking amount ‘stranded’ astronauts are being paid for their time in space

Here is how over time Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore have been in space since June.

Former NASA personnel member has described how two astronauts who have been in space since last year will be compensated for their extra time.

Originally destined for an eight-day mission on June 5 last year from Cape Canaveral Space Force, astronauts Barry ‘Butch’ Wilmore, 61, and Sunita Williams, 59, were launched into orbit.

Williams and Wilmore still are on the International Space Station (ISS) to this very day owing technical issues with their spacecraft.

Although they have kept themselves busy up there with work and even the spacewalk, others are asking about the payment of the astronauts.

NASA will certainly be offering them some extra cash for their discomfort, right? I mean, they expected just an eight-day journey.

According to the Washingtonian magazine, Williams and Wilmore get legitimately average pay—like any worker on a business trip.

While the space agency offers transportation and lodging, NASA offers the food and drink since obviously there are no supermarkets up in space.

Retired NASA astronaut Cady Coleman told the Washingtonian: “There is some small amount of money per day for incidentals that they end up being legally obligated to pay you.”

Williams and Wilmore have likely totally forgotten what life on Earth is like given their nearly eight months in space.

Coleman tells the Washingtonian how she would sometimes float in solitude in space, therefore she knows all about time spent away from our planet.

She informed the outlet, “It’s almost like you’re a fish in an aquarium, where it’s sort of dark and you’re gliding through this wonderful place.
