Steven Willard Anderson went missing in 2004
The remains of a man missing for nearly two decades have been discovered submerged in a reservoir in Utah.
The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Tuesday, February 11, that they found the human remains inside a vehicle located in the reservoir. He has been identified as Steven Willard Anderson, a 46-year-old man who vanished back in 2004.
Authorities do not suspect any foul play, and the case was officially closed on Tuesday, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
According to KUTV, Anderson had left his home in Murray to embark on a long, 200-mile journey to a family cabin in Flaming Gorge, Utah. However, after he failed to arrive, his family became concerned and his father went to the cabin looking for him, but Anderson was nowhere to be found.

Local reports indicate that Anderson had rented a vehicle for the trip, although the Utah Department of Public Safety reported he vanished without a trace. His family promptly filed a missing person’s report, but the case eventually went cold, leaving them and his friends uncertain of his fate.
