Yaşamları, kutup ayıları, ormanın içinde dolaşan görünmeyen bir yaratık ile Diğerleri diye bilinen adanın kötü niyetli sakinleri gibi gizemli varlıklar tarafından tehdit altındadır. Adaya 16 yıl önce gemi kazası sonucu gelen Daniel Rousseau adında Fransız bir kadına rastlarlar ve yerin altına gömülü gizemli bir divxmdivxmdivxmdivxml kapak bulurlar. Bazı kazazedeler ise yaptıkları sal ile adadan ayrılmaya çalışır.
